How to Join

How to join DAPi:

  • Click here! A one-time $10 application fee will be due upon admittance to the Delta Alpha Pi, BYU chapter.

Criteria:

Undergraduates

  • Register with the Accessibility Center and provide documentation of disability
  • Complete a minimum of 24 credits
  • Maintain an overall Quality Point Average of 3.10
  • Demonstrate an interest in disability issues

Graduates

  • Register with the Accessibility Center and provide documentation of disability
  • Complete a minimum of 18 credits
  • Maintain an overall Quality Point Average of 3.30
  • Demonstrate an interest in disability issues

What’s expected of DAPi members?

  • Attend at least one planning meeting and at least one DAPi activity each semester.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of at least one DAPi activity (service, social, or educational)
  • Maintain a 3.1 or higher GPA for undergraduates, 3.3 or higher GPA for graduates.

  • Joining a community of like-minded students who also are high-achievers with a disability and who support rather than criticize.
  • Developing or enhancing skills in leadership through activities such as holding an office or being a mentor.
  • Developing or enhancing advocacy skills for yourself and for others with disabilities.
  • Learning how to plan and implement programming to educate others about disability issues.
  • Having the opportunity to “give forward” by helping to lessen the stigma surrounding disability and demonstrating that students with disabilities can be and are successful.
  • Wearing the DAPi blue and gold honor cords at commencement/ graduation.
  • Having the opportunity to apply for the $2000 DAPi scholarship which is awarded each year to an active undergraduate member of a chapter of DAPi.
  • Enhancing your resume through membership in an academic honor society.
