Learning Outcomes

General

  1. All BYU students, faculty, and administrators will know that the UAC exists, what services and accommodations are available, and how to register for services.
  2. Upon completion of intake, student-clients will understand all processes necessary for successful utilization of services.
  3. Student-clients will have a full understanding of the accommodations to which they are entitled and how these are related to the functional limitations of their disability.

Psychodiagnostic Services

  1. UAC student-clients with learning concerns will know that psychodiagnostic services exist, will have a general understanding of the function of these services, and will understand how to initiate these services.
  2. Student-clients who undergo a psycho-educational assessment will gain personal insights that could potentially contribute to their academic success. They will be able to:
  • ​Understand their diagnosis and how it affects their life.
  • Identify the accommodations for which they are eligible.
  • Increase understanding of their learning styles and how they can succeed in an academic environment with accommodations and other helps.

Accessibility Lab

  1. ​UAC student-clients will know that the Accessibility Lab exists and what services are available.
  2. Student-clients who utilize the Accessibility Lab will better understand accessible technologies. They will be able to:
  • Identify barriers to academic success that would require a technological intervention.
  • Articulate at least one technology that would help them address their barriers to academic success and understand how to use that technology.
  • Feel confident in utilizing accessible technologies and utilize them frequently.

REACH

  1. UAC student-clients will know that the REACH program exists and will have a general understanding of its functions.
  2. Student-clients who utilize the REACH program will gain insights that can help them transition from campus life to employment. They will:
  • ​Be able to identify a career path that fits their disability and interests.
  • Learn to create resumes and cover letters of a type and format appropriate to their disability, experience, and skills.
  • Develop a unique understanding of the role/value networking plays in the job search process as a result of their disability.
  • Practice interviewing skills and appropriately discuss any disability-related issues associated with this process.

Delta Alpha Pi (DAP)

  1. UAC student-clients will know that Delta Alpha Pi exists and will have an understanding of its purpose.
  2. Student-clients who participate in Delta Alpha Pi will:
  • Develop skills in leadership, advocacy, and education.
  • Serve as mentors and role models for other students with disabilities.
  • Participate in planning and executing activities designed to break down stereotypes and negativism associated with disability.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS)

As a result of interactions with, and receiving services and equipment from, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, student-clients will:

  • Learn what services and equipment are available as accommodations for their disability.
  • Request and use accommodative services and equipment in accordance with established DHHS protocol.
  • Recognize the value of utilizing these services and equipment for their educational success at the university.
