How do I view student accommodation letters?

  • Go to your CougarAccess portal.
  • Under “Unread Letters,” view each letter by choosing “View Letter PDF.”
  • After viewing a student’s letter, it will move to the “Opened Letters,” section on the lower portion of the page.
Note: Professors are not linked to the system until a student with accommodations is enrolled in one of their courses and that semester/term has started.

How do I review an accommodation letter after I’ve opened it the first time?

  • In the “Opened Letters” section, you can now find previously opened letters in a variety of ways.
    • Drop down menus allow you to filter by class and/or accommodation.
    • Tabs showing current and previous semesters/terms.
    • Search fields under “Student Name” and “Net ID” allow you to quickly find an individual student’s letter.

In the list, you can see the following information about each letter at a glance:

  • Course Title
  • Student Name
  • Net ID
  • Accommodations Included in the Letter
  • Sent Date (effective date of the letter)
  • Opened Date (when you opened the letter)
  • Button to view the letter PDF

What if I get an error that prevents me from accessing CougarAccess?

  • If you encounter an "Error" or "504 Bad Gateway" or “Header too large” message, please try clearing your browser's cache and cookies (See this support article). This often resolves the issue by refreshing your browser’s stored data. If the problem persists, feel free to reach out for further assistance.

What if I get a message saying that I am not connected to the Accessibility Center?

  • Professors are not linked to the system until a student with accommodations is enrolled in one of their courses and that semester/term has started.
