When interacting with a person with a disability, it is important to be mindful of how best to do so, depending on his or her disability. Some of us might be uncomfortable talking with people with disabilities. One reason is that we may feel sorry for them and assume that they might be bitter about their disability and wish they didn’t have one. This is untrue in many cases. Lots of people with disabilities feel that their lives are enriched by their experience with disability, and if given the chance to erase their disability, they would not. Come participate in a zoom meeting with students with diverse disabilities who will share their experience of living with a disability. You can submit questions in advance at DAW2021@byu.edu.
